The N.I.H. set the high limit of vitamin D-3 at 10,000 I.U/day.
What I do is all through spring, summer and especially the last part of summer is lay out in the sun every other day for an hour with 90% body exposure.. I also get vitamin D from fresh wild salmon. This vitamin D will store in the body as a hormone and carry you into fall. When fall arrives I switch to 5000 I.U. of D-3/day and continue with salmon. When spring arrives I drop the D-3 and lay out in the sun. If there is a flu going around I increase to 7500 I.U./day and if sick, which rarely happens I take 10,000 I.U./day and use internal oil of oregano. Since I dont take vaccines this is one part of what I do for virus protection, immune enhancement and skin health. |

The range considered normal is 20 - 100. This can only be determined by blood tests.
If you are taking supplements it should be under a doctor's care. I am on my 8th week of 50,000 mgs. taken once per week by perscription. I am feeling a surge of welcome energy, and a sense of well being that I had lost over the last 10 years with hypothyroidism and PN. This week, I have seen the first glimpse of healing since I have been on Vitamin D supplements. Two sores on my forearms that have been festering for four months appear to be healed. One horrid sore on my right thigh, that has festered for one year plus, is healing, and an outbreak on my upper arms seems to be subsiding. I don't want to get too excited. I am tracking the progress, and will keep all posted. The energy surge alone is helping me with my PN. Healing would send me into ecstasy, but I have been down this road before, so I am not ready to say Vitamin D is healing my PN. Whew! Have to get up at 5:30 am to teach High School in the Bronx, NY. Bye. Marlene |
